We are pleased to announce the latest successful set of grant applications for community-based organisations.  Congratulations all: we can’t wait to hear all about how they’re helping to improve the lives of older people and will keep everyone updated on their progress.

We have awarded grants to:

The Hardman Centre  Gateshead Lunch Buddies – a volunteer service to take healthy, nutritious lunches out to vulnerable, isolated older people in Gateshead. £24,935
Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Trust ARTiculate – a series of creative writing workshops for older people to learn new skills and provide mental stimulation, while also combating loneliness and isolation by increasing sociability and regular group participation. £18,524
SubCo Trust My Life, My Choice – culturally appropriate end-of-life care planning for Asian elders. This project aims to address the dearth of culturally and linguistically appropriate information and support for the Asian community about end-of-life care and the importance of planning ahead. £37,850
The Strettons Mayfair Trust Lighting the Beacon – following consultations with day service users and the wider community, the existing day care service (newly renamed as The Beacon) will be remodelled to promote well-being and tackle social isolation by providing more activity based sessions. £39,967
Abbeyfield Lancashire Extra Care Society Building grant – to enhance the outdoor and indoor living space of the dementia unit at Abbeyfield Care Home Clitheroe £45,000
The Eric Liddell Centre Building grant – AV and hearing loop upgrade for the Eric Liddell Centre to ensure those with a hearing impediment are able to benefit from the talks and events that are held at the centre. £7,857
Glamis Hall for All Building grant – day centre toilet and bathroom rebuild.The new layout will provide 2 disabled and 6 accessible toilets, a larger bathroom, an office and two better-shaped rooms, one for the hairdresser and the other for the beautician/podiatrist. £46,000
