Bridging Biological and Social Sciences in Ageing Research: UKAgeNet

The report of the July 2024 UKAgeNet research symposium held at the British Society for Gerontology’s 53rd Annual Conference.

UKAgeNet has worked to create an interdisciplinary forum for knowledge exchange, discussion and collaboration among UK centres and networks. However, in order for this to be effective, there is vital work to do to bridge the collaboration gap between biomedical and the social sciences and arts & humanities.

This was the principal motivation behind the symposium which brought together experts from across disciplines to discuss the barriers and challenges to interdisciplinary collaboration, to share good practice and examples of what has worked so far, and to define the next steps for UKAgeNet to facilitate collaborative progress.
