Annual Early Career Researcher meeting 2024

13/11/2024

Join us in-person 10:00-17:00 on Wednesday 13th November 2024 at the Wellcome Collection, Central London for a day of interactive sessions and the opportunity to network with your peers.

In the morning we’ll be running a workshop on Media, Public Relations and Science Communication to give an insight into how to convey the impact of your research to the general public and how to interact with the media. In the afternoon you’ll be hearing from your fellow researchers about their ageing-related work in our ‘5-minute fellowships’ session and invited talks. You can see the full agenda for the day and register your interest to attend on our Eventbrite page.

The event is free** and registration deadline is Friday 4th October 2024. Given the limited capacity of the venue, priority will be given to Dunhill Medical Trust-funded ECRs who are prepared to present their work, either as a poster or talk, but we intend to make recordings of the event available on our website for those who are unable to attend. Please note, by completing the registration process you are registering your interest to attend, and we will be in contact to confirm if you have been allocated a place week commencing 14th October 2024. Therefore, please do not book any travel until we have confirmed your attendance.

As part of the registration process, we are offering attendees the opportunity to nominate themselves for a poster presentation and/or a speaking slot in the ‘5-minute fellowships’ section of the agenda. We’ll be reviewing and selecting titles/abstracts for the ‘5-minute fellowships’ slot to ensure a diverse range of topic areas, career stages and speakers are represented. The deadline to submit a title and abstract for a poster/talk is also Friday 4th October 2024 and we’ll be in contact well ahead of the event to let you know if you have been selected for a poster or talk.

**We will also cover the costs of travel to the event for early career researchers, where there is no other means to claim these back – attendees intending to claim travel costs should confirm these with the Trust prior to booking travel. If you have any questions about this, or the event in general, please email [email protected].
