Alzheimer’s Society is offering a variety of funding opportunities to support dementia research and the development of emerging researchers in the field. If you’re a postdoc, clinician, or healthcare professional interested in dementia research, check out the following opportunities, all with an outline submission deadline of 28 March 2025:
Career Development Grant
- For Post-Doctoral Researchers Seeking Independence
- This one-year grant is designed for promising post-doctoral researchers, fellows, and clinicians to gain the time and resources necessary to collect data and build their research profile.
- Funding: Up to £80,000 for one year full-time (or pro-rata for part-time).
- Eligibility: Post-doctoral researchers, post-doctoral clinicians clinicians, and allied health professionals.
- This one-year grant is designed for promising post-doctoral researchers, fellows, and clinicians to gain the time and resources necessary to collect data and build their research profile.

Clinical Training Partnerships
- For Clinical Academics Promoting Dementia Research Careers
- These grants enable institutions to support multiple clinical PhD candidates, fostering the next generation of clinicians and healthcare professionals in dementia research.
- Funding: Up to three fellowships per institution.
- Eligibility: Clinical academics with institutional support.

Clinician and Healthcare Professionals Training Fellowship
- For Clinicians Starting a PhD in Dementia Research
- This fellowship is ideal for all professionals working in clinical and health services who are looking pursue a PhD.
- Funding: Applicants may apply for salary, University PhD fees at UK rates and up to £75,000 per fellowship (to cover research costs, part-time technician or administrative support and career development).
- Eligibility: Clinicians and healthcare professionals pursuing a PhD.

Post-CCT Career Development Grant
- For Early Career Clinical Researchers working towards research independence
- This fellowship is ideal for promising clinical researchers to gather data and build their CV in preparation for the next stage in their career.
- Funding: Up to £150,000 for salary and research costs for up to 18 months part-time.
- Eligibility: Clinical researchers with Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and a completed PhD.

Pre-doctoral Clinical Bursary
- For Clinicians Exploring Dementia Research
- This bursary offers a chance for clinicians and allied health professionals to gain research experience, explore the field, and decide if they want to pursue a PhD.
- Funding: Up to £30,000 for part-time research up to six months.
- Eligibility: Clinicians and allied health professionals interested in research.

Project Grants
- For Established Researchers with Great New Ideas
- Alzheimer’s Society offers flexible grants for high-quality dementia research. These grants can cover pilot studies, springboard, seed funding, and larger projects.
- Funding: Up to £400,000 for research costs (staff, consumables, equipment) for up to three years.
- Eligibility: Established dementia researchers with a new research idea.
