Call for seed funding proposals: the ageing immune system

Our call for seed funding proposals on the topic of the ageing immune system is now open. Full details of the call, including the timeline, are available in our guidelines.

The deadline for seed funding proposals is 23rd July 2021 at 5:00pm.

In November last year, the Trust launched its 2020 – 2025 Strategic Framework, which set out our plans and priorities for the next five years. This will see us taking a thematic approach to funding calls – enabling us to target support towards underfunded areas and making our priorities for funding clearer for applicants.

The ageing immune system was identified by the British Society for Research on Ageing as an underfunded area of great importance as it underpins a number of conditions. In addition, a recently published House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee report on “Ageing: Science, Technology and Healthy Living” also highlighted that “one area which has received less attention is how the immune system changes with age”.

These awards will offer the opportunity for researchers to develop novel ideas and generate supporting data that will enable them to catalyse further research. We particularly encourage early career post-doctoral researchers/first time Principal Investigators (PIs) to apply.

For more information on the research theme, eligibility criteria and the application process please read our call guidelines.
